We are located at The Metta Center, 1602 Carolina St. D-12. There is ample free paved parking and the yoga studio is quiet, with a beautiful wood floor and plenty of wall space.
Joani Glasser is a yoga teacher with over 40 years experience teaching group classes as well as private. Joani's style is a blend of yoga theories with slow, flowing movement, and attention given to those with physical limitations. She starts each class with breathing (pranayama) to calm the body and mind and guides you into gentle postures (asanas) with flow and awareness. Relaxation (Savasana) and meditation bring the class to a close.
Each class is somewhat different, adding self Shiatsu and Manual Ligament Therapy massage techniques to ease neck, shoulder, TMJ, and foot concerns. We always end with deep relaxation (savasana) and meditation. Her background and specialized training in yoga wellness for the back has brought many students to greater mobility, ease, comfort, and well-being. She often includes a brief shiatsu massage toward the end of class.
Joani brings compassion, humor and years of experience to each student she teaches. She has a M.S. in Education, nursing background, and is a Licensed Massage Therapist/Practitioner, specializing in Shiatsu and pain relief, and Bellanina Facelift Massage. She is a Registered Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance (E-RYT-500) and is affiliated with PeaceHealth Cancer Center offering massage therapy and yoga classes.
Benefits: Yoga stimulates the flow of energy and encourages balance for both body and mind. You will learn correct breathing techniques, promote better body alignment and increase flexibility. You will gain strength, manage stress and tension better, and learn deep relaxation techniques. At the end of each class you will feel relaxed and energized.
Class Days: Tuesdays & Thursdays at 10:30 to 11:45. Please arrive 10 min. early first time. Please note that times and days may change. Make contact before your first class.
FEES: Fees apply to a 3 month pass, or $15 drop in. 10 classes.....$110. 5 classes.....$68.
Make-up classes available by written request (email) to extend beyond 3 month pass (due to illness, injury, family emergency). Unused classes may be taken up to 2 months at an additional $5. fee per class.

Please bring your own mat if you have one. A few mats are available to borrow. Other props are on-site. Turn off cell phones, no perfumes, please. Eat a light breakfast or snack before class. Weather Policy: If B'ham schools are closed...no class, if they start late, by 10AM, we will have class at usual time, or call to confirm. If we have class and you live in an area where it is too risky to drive, you will be granted an extension of pass time as needed, by request within 48 hours. I will also send email to registered students when classes cancel, if possible. Power outages could interfere.
Make-up classes: Anytime within the 3 month pass. If you miss due to illness, weather, or injury, notify at first missed class to request extension of your pass. Email: email@example.com
